allowing you to get moving boxes for free in some cases.
The process of packing, loading, moving, unloading and unpacking can be a great hassle and headache. One of the hardest things to take care of after a move is the giant pile of packing plastic and other materials that take over your space once you are done using them.

If you’d like to be a little greener and eco-friendlier on your move, we have compiled a few tips to help you cut down on your moving footprint!

First, don’t move things you’re not using. While you might not want to use your busy moving time to examine everything you own, it can certainly be a great time to declutter. Get a box for donations and fill it up with items as you are packing. You’ll be surprised how fast it will fill up!

Second, skip plastic wrap in terms of more recyclable materials. Recycling guidelines vary from place to place, so your next recycling center may not accept plastic packing material. Instead of plastic, try using newspaper or shredded junk mail. You can even wrap some of your valuables in towels, sheets, or other linens.

Third, use boxes you already have. Many of us have boxes that can be easily reused from online orders. Diaper boxes are great for packing since they have handles. There are also online services where people can list their items, allowing you to get moving boxes for free in some cases.

Finally, don’t make a lot of trips to your new place if it is close to your current one. Often, it is costlier on your gas expenses to make little trips than to make one or two larger ones.
