Moving Companies, Lincoln County, NC

I’m writing this review in two parts, as our move itself is a two stage process and not yet fully complete.

I recently relocated to Hickory, NC from two states away. With a short closing period on the sale of our home, I had very little time to find and contract with an interstate moving company. Thankfully, our Realtor connected us with Ashe Van Lines Moving & Storage — and they truly stepped up. Our phone and email communication was smooth, and we had a signed agreement within two days. Even better, our belongings were scheduled for pickup just fourteen days after our first contact.

Ashe Van Lines categorized our relocation as a Part A / Part B move:

• Part A: Pickup of our household goods from our former home (out of state) and delivery to their Hickory warehouse for temporary storage. We negotiated two months of storage, included in the cost. This portion of the move was calculated by total weight.

• Part B: Delivery from the Hickory warehouse to our new local address. This portion will be billed based on labor hours.

The morning of our scheduled pickup started later than expected, but the delay didn’t affect the quality or completion of the job.

The crew leader walked us through the process before anything was moved and maintained a meticulous inventory throughout the day. Each crew member asked questions whenever something was unclear, which I appreciated. They were respectful of our home, using floor protection and covering thresholds where dollies were used.

Although we pre-packed most of our belongings, the crew handled everything with care. Every piece of furniture was wrapped appropriately, and all outdoor and garage items were protected before loading. As the day went on, it became clear that these movers were true professionals. Items were placed neatly and securely in the truck — nothing haphazard, nothing forced into place.

Once everything was loaded, the trucks secured, paperwork exchanged, and handshakes made, they headed for Hickory. Despite the late start, the team completed the entire job and was ready to roll out by day’s end.

After arriving in Hickory, I received the official weight tickets, and the updated cost — based on actual weight — was processed quickly. The final number was very close to the original estimate, which was reassuring.

Next up is Part B: the local delivery from the warehouse to our new home.

Recently hired Ashe Van Lines for an office move. I could not be happier with the experience. They were punctual, very professional and clearly very experienced at what they do. They went above and beyond to ensure all our items were undamaged (we had some particularly heavy items that they were able to easily handle as well). Overall it was 10/10 and I'll definitely be hiring them again in the future for any moves I do

Ashe Van Lines went way beyond the call of duty!! We were in a bind and running out of time, I called Ashe VL the day after Christmas and they had 2 crews at my home the next morning!!
The men were courteous and professional. They showed up right on time 2 days later over 600 miles to our destination.
I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN!! I WOULD GIVE THEM 7 STARS IF I COULD!!

Rodger, Gio and Josase did a fantastic job moving my last heavy items for my move. Very courteous and kind and super helpful. I would recommend having this service for sure.

These guys and gals were awesome to work with and made my move quick and easy. Movers were on time and got to work within a few minutes. I recommend there services and plan on hiring them again om any future moves.

I could not have asked for a more amazing moving experience!! These guys all came out to help me on a Saturday. They never complained. Not once. We had an extra stop to empty a storage unit. Still no complaints. Then they saw that not only was our new craft room on the second level of our new home, but that we have the most awkward staircase imaginable.... And I love fabric so they proceeded to move all of our incredibly heavy craft hoard up these ridiculous (but beautiful) stairs... and STILL did not complain! In fact, they kept us laughing all morning long!
I will never recommend any other moving company! Fabulous service! They were finished and gone in just over 3 hours!!! And my final cost was LESS than my quote!!
